R. J. Prakashan is a seasoned legal professional with over three decades of experience in corporate legal, Administration, and Media Law. A Law graduate from Delhi University and registered with the Karnataka State Bar Council, he was associated with the country's leading Media conglomerate- Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd. (The Times of India Group) — as Regional Head – Corporate Legal for the South Region, spanning 18+ years.

With a strong legal foundation built during 20 years of service in the Indian Air Force, he brings exceptional expertise in legal strategy, drafting legal documents, compliance, contract management, dispute resolution, and regulatory affairs across Print, Electronic Media, and Real Estate. He has successfully handled high-stakes litigation, RERA matters, corporate restructuring, and major legal compliances across multiple States, in addition to appearances in Courts, including the Supreme Court, as well as the High Courts of Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

Recognized with 'The Times Group' Chairman’s Award for Excellence, he is known for his sharp legal acumen, strategic execution, and ability to drive impactful outcomes for complex legal challenges.

In addition to his core responsibilities, he has demonstrated exceptional capability through notable achievements, including:

  • Instrumental in obtaining Khatha and all related documents for The Times Group’s corporate office property, and securing essential NOCs from key Government agencies — AAI, BWSSB, KSPCB, BBMP, and Fire & Emergency Services — within a record 03 months at zero cost to the organization.

  • Won laurels for his tireless efforts in two major litigations, both spanning eleven years, including a landmark case challenging BDA’s land allotment to the Group and a ₹4 Crore cheque dishonour matter — both resulting in favourable rulings from the High Court of Karnataka and securing a conviction by the City Civil Court, Bangalore.

  • Successful bidding for the sale of the Company’s landed property in Ooty, resulting in significant cash flow to the organization.

  • Successfully moved TN RERA for Arbitration and secured two Arbitral Awards and executed them to the stage of issuance of Attachment Warrants. 

  • Appeared in numerous cases individually and alongside Counsels before the Lower Courts, Consumer Forums, and RERA–KA and TN.
